Fettercairn Warehouse 14
Fettercairn Warehouse 14 has arrived, marking the fifth and, regrettably, final limited release in a series that has explored the Fettercairn tropical house style through various cask styles and storage conditions. Whisky maker Gregg Glass, for the first time, selected a range of whiskies from Warehouse 14, including aged first-fill and second-fill bourbon barrels, and finished them in a combination of beer barrels: stout, dark ale, and pale ale, before blending them harmoniously. Bottled at 51.2% ABV, non-chill-filtered, and with natural colour, this release offers a bouquet of toasty maltiness, charred pineapple, woody spice, and creamy nutty notes. On the palate, one can find tropical fruit, crème caramel, dried apricot, and ginger, all supported by a rich, chocolatey backdrop. The aftertaste is long and rewarding, featuring more chocolate, nutty goodness, and a bright hint of refreshing mango.
