Founded in 2005, Kavalan is Taiwan's premier whiskymaker, receiving acclaim with their Kavalan Concertmaster being named Best in Class at the 2011 International Wine & Spirit Competition. This single malt whisky is finished in Ruby Port, Tawny Port, and Vintage Port casks from Portugal, after an initial maturation in American oak. On the nose, it offers aromas of red grapes and clove, followed by pronounced vanilla. There are also hints of tobacco leaf and cookie dough. On the palate, notes of brown sugar mixed with ground cinnamon and white pepper blend seamlessly with the rich Port influence. It features a core of white oak warmth. The finish presents flavours of raisins, prunes, strawberry jam, and an additional hint of tobacco.
