Joining the Sailor's Home series, Stormchaser is an impressive triple-distilled single malt Irish whiskey that boasts waves of character. Initially, it is matured in a combination of virgin oak and bourbon casks before being divided into two distinct yet complementary casks for finishing: Irish stout barrels and Madeira wine casks. This should stimulate plenty of interest with generous layers of cacao, roasted malt, vanilla, dried fruits, and coffee. On the nose, dark chocolate and dense roasted malt are supported by notes of buttery oak and a hint of hoppy bitterness. The palate offers a dusting of cinnamon, cacao, and coffee grounds, accompanied by thick-cut marmalade, dates, and vanilla cream. The aftertaste reveals treacly layers of muscovado sugar, plump raisins, prunes, and a touch of pepper.
