Glenalmond, brought to us by the Vintage Malt Whisky Company, is an artful blend of single malts sourced from selected, though undisclosed, Highland distilleries. It is matured in both sherry and bourbon casks before being bottled at 40% ABV. The label, featuring a large brown trout, hints at its namesake, the River Almond, where the fish is commonly found—but despite the name, no almonds are involved. On the nose, it offers scents of vanilla fudge, sweet malt cereal, cinnamon, and honey. The palate is graced with abundant fruity sherry notes, fresh white stone fruits, candied citrus peel, vanilla cream, and sugared almonds. The finish is marked by dried fruit, a sprinkle of brown sugar, and a lingering touch of vanilla pod.
